JT Concert!

Carly and I went to see Justin Timberlake at the Tabernacle this past Sunday. The show was awesome. "Sexy Back" was definitely the hit of the night!!

The best part, though, was the dancing. JT is an awesome dancer!

The pictures aren't the best because they wouldn't let us use the flash. Hopefully, you can see a little bit!

Beach Weekend

We went to St. Simons this weekend for some relaxing beach time. Here is DJ, getting a tan.

We bought Sophie this awesome new bed. It's called a "Kitty Kube." She can get inside it, like her own little cave.

Here is Sophie on her way to the kennel. She likes to ride on the floor of the car, for some reason.

The whole family. We found tons of sand dollers. They were still alive, though, so we put them back.

Down with DJ Evil Jet

Monday night we went to see Michael McDonald & Steely Dan at Chastain Park. I have to say, I would probably never listen to either of these two bands on my own, but the show was pretty awesome. Michael McD brought out a full choir to sing with him on the last three songs!

Michael McD and Steely Dan are two of DJ's favorite bands ever, so after the show, he went up to the stage to try and get a copy of the setlist.

One of our favorite places to go out in Atlanta is The Cavern, which is in the Virgina Highlands. The past several times that we've gone in there on the weekend, this DJ has been playing. Both he and his set-up are so cheezy. He has a shaved head, and he only wears black. He also wears those spikey collars and braclets. All around his Dj booth are Christmas lights in the shape of dog bones! His name is DJ Evil Jet. For some reason, though, Deeg has trouble remembering this guy's name, and he usually calls him DJ Evil Rob.

The operative word, though, is EVIL. The guy is a total toad. One time, Licky went up and requested that he play some Interpol. He told her no because he hates Interpol and refused to play her request! Regardless, we are always nice to him because he plays good 80's music. DJ even tipped him the last time we were there.

So anyway, DJ goes up to the stage after the show to try and get a copy of the set list. There were a lot of other people up there trying to do the same thing. The crew breaking down the stage were pretty much ignoring everyone and it wasn't looking like anyone was going to get a set list. All of a sudden, DJ spots DJ Evil Jet! He is working as a crew member, helping to break down the stage, and he has a set list IN HIS HAND!

DJ, in his drunkeness, screams out, "DJ Evil Rob! DJ Evil Rob! I see you at The Cavern all the time! Can I have that setlist?"

DJ Evil Jet just looks at him, smiles in his evil way, and say, "Sorry man." Then he folds the set list up and puts it in his pocket!

So that's why I am saying DOWN WITH DJ EVIL JET! No matter how nice you are to him, he's an impossible nut to crack. I think we need to start spending our Saturday nights somewhere else!

My New Favorite Drink

On Wednesday night, Hammy and I went to a friend's birthday drop-in at Trader Vic's in the bottom of the Hilton Hotel downtown. I had never been to one before, but it is a very cool bar. The tiki atmosphere and unique drinks made for a very cool birthday! We also had a good time riding the numerous elevators up and down while we tried to find the place.

While we were there, I found my new favorite drink. I had read several books where the Pimm's Cup was mentioned, and I had always wondered what one tasted like. I had also heard about the drink in relation to Wimbledon, and it sounded delicious.

My first taste confirmed my suspicions. The drink looked a little bit like a bloody mary, but it didn't taste like it at all. It was sweet and girly - just the way I like it!

Here is a recipe I found online. I highly recommed it!

  • Fill a Collins glass with ice
  • Mix one part Pimms Cup No. 1 with two parts lemonade
  • Stir or shake
  • Top off with club soda, or use lemon-lime soda for a sweeter drink
  • Stir lightly, but do NOT shake again
  • Garnish with a slice of kirby cucumber; lemon wedge optional

OPTIONS:

  • If not lemonade is at hand, use Sprite or 7-Up
  • To make with ginger ale, use plenty of lemons
  • Mint, apple & orange can be added
  • For the coup de grace, use borage leaves
  • If no
